Fernox

When embarking on a self -build project to design and build your own home there are so many considerations to take into account to make your home a 21st century dwelling that is as energy efficient as possible.  Installing and commissioning the right central heating system from the start will extend its efficiency and working life ensuring fuel bills , maintenance costs and carbon emissions are minimised. 

In accordance with Part L of the Building Regulations, Fernox recommends that after installation the system is cleaned using Fernox Cleaner F3 or Powerflushing Cleaner F5. Both are quick and effective neutral cleaners that remove flux residues and other installation debris from the system. 

After cleaning, it is important to dose the system using an inhibitor; Fernox suggests adding Fernox Protector F1. This will give long term protection to your system against internal corrosion and lime scale formation. For continued protection Protector F1 levels should be checked annually as part of the servicing of the system. Levels can be measured easily using a 60 sec Protector Check Strip or a Fernox Protector Test Kit. 

Both Fernox Protector F1 and Cleaner F3 are available in 500ml liquid, Express aerosol and Superconcentrate cartridge forms. All Fernox formulations are fully compatible and each product treats 100 litres or up to 10 single radiators. 

Fernox has recognised and adapted its product portfolio to the ever changing needs of its customers. With many new build customers wishing to install heating systems that include Renewable technologies such as Ground and Air Source Heat Pumps and Solar Thermal heating systems. Fernox extensive R&D facility has developed products to maintain and protect these systems too. 

• Fernox Solar S1 is a pre mix heat transfer fluid formulated specifically for solar thermal systems. It protects against frost that can damage the collectors. Collector tubes are susceptible to freezing and bursting during hard winter frost. Fernox Solar S1 premix will protect to -28°C.
• Fernox Solar Zero+ has been specifically formulated for use as a heat transfer fluid within solar thermal systems, where no frost protection is required. Fernox Solar Zero+ employs volatile corrosion inhibitors that will protect the installation when the heat transfer is in either a gaseous or liquid state at temperatures in excess of 180°C. This product is designed for systems in countries with mild winters and is also available as a concentrated version Solar zero + C. The corrosion protection offered by Fernox Solar Zero+ is equivalent to that provided by Fernox Protector F1 within central heating systems, for all metals commonly found within solar thermal installations. 
• Fernox HP-5 is a pre-blended heat transfer fluid designed for use in Air Source Heat Pump and underfloor heating systems requiring frost protection to -5 °C.  The product provides long term protection from damage caused by corrosion, lime scale and bacteria whilst maintaining a stable pH across a range of operational temperatures.  Fernox HP-5 is compatible with all materials commonly used in Heat Pumps and underfloor heating systems. 
• Fernox HP-15 is also a pre-blended heat transfer fluid specially formulated for use in Air and Ground Source Heat Pumps but offers additional frost protection to -15 °C. Like HP-5, Fernox HP-15 gives long term protection against damage caused by corrosion, lime scale and bacteria as well as maintaining a stable pH across a range of operational temperatures. Fernox HP-15 is compatible with all materials commonly used in Heat Pumps. 
• Fernox HP Fill is a concentrated, biocidal additive designed to provide long- term protection for ground source collectors against microbiological fouling during the period after installation and before commissioning of the heat pump. Fernox HP Fill is compatible with the Fernox HP range of heat transfer fluids and all materials commonly used in Ground Source Heat Pumps. 
• Fernox HP Cleaner is a concentrated product designed to clean biocidal or fungal growth from ground source collectors. Fernox HP Cleaner is compatible with the Fernox HP range of heat transfer fluids and all materials commonly used in Heat Pumps.
